It's been a long time coming as the Audi TT has been on the market since 1998. Audi is finally developing a replacement, and the first test mules got caught on film.

The new coupe is due for release at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show; the roadster variant should come a year later. The new model will hold on to the characteristic styling of the current one, but it has grown somewhat in dimensions to allow more interior space. In addition, the front will have the new signature grille, first seen on the new Audi A8L W12 and new A6. It's expected that the new TT will also feature a retractable rear spoiler for more downforce.

The new Audi TT will, of course, be available with either front-wheel drive or quattro. Power will come from various transversely mounted inline four-cylinder and V6 engines. A super sporty TT RS-version is said to be in the pipeline, too, as a rival against the likes of Mercedes' SLK AMG and the M-version of BMW's Z4.
